It is said that first impression is the best impression. When someone visits your home, most often they look at your front yard landscaping and it will be a reflection of the people who live in the house. The most engaging portion of a house is its front yard. As you plan your front yard design, you should keep the following facts in mind:
- First and foremost in landscaping your front yard, your house’s appearance should be considered. This should not be a problem if you’re planning to repaint or redesign the entire house in future.
- The front yard should depend on the architectural type of the home.
- Neatly designed pathways will enhance the view of the landscape. Pathways built of asphalt, brick patterns, granite can give added charm to the front yard’s appearance
- It will be better if you use two three small areas for growing flowered vegetation. Always go for flowering plants which are of less price and can be easily taken care of. Hybrid shrubs are a popular choice. Evergreen plants have the advantage of remaining green in all seasons and sustaining the look of the front yard.
- Gentle sands can also be used to give a rustic look for the pathways within the front yard.
- Don’t try to over plant, this can disturb the beauty of the landscape. Keep it simple but not boring.
- Curve sidewalks are nicer than straight ones. Always try to keep the inside edge of the walk at a minimum distance of five feet from the house.
- It will be better if you plant some trees as they will provide shade and a good frame view and backdrop for your house. To add scale to the front yard design, a tree should be fixed at each end of the yard.
- Interlocking or mortar-less stone can be utilized to create flower beds, fountains, retaining walls and different decorative items.
- You can also use some rocks to adorn your garden. This has several advantages, First of all, it will provide safety from erosion. Secondly, they will inhibit the growth of weeds. Thirdly they give an earthy touch to your living space.
Small backyard or front yard spaces definitely would need an additional care on design and planning, one that the space is less and plans that should be implemented need to be perfect to make the space a little big but not more compact. Such ideas can be easily found.
When we designed the front-yard of your home, we made a rock garden in the front, it looks so amazing and the rustic look that it provides is just fantastic. I even made sure not to over plant so that it will cause a clutter. On my sideways I planted marry-gold and daisies too.
